With an ageing population, the incidence of age-related cognitive decline due to neurodegeneration is expected to rise. Without effective pharmacological interventions to slow or reverse neurodegenerative processes, focus has shifted towards possible lifestyle interventions including diet to prevent the onset or even curtail the progression of conditions such as dementia. Emma will present the results of her PhD work which investigates how cranberry polyphenols could impact the disease mechanisms considered to underlie age-related neurodegeneration, particularly through influencing the complex interactions between the gut microbiome and brain.
We welcome everyone with an interest in dementia research, creating an exchange of knowledge between researchers, clinicians, people with dementia and their carers, and the general public.
