David Parfrey will serve as an Independent Executive Chair of the Norwich Research Partners LLP (NRP LLP) on a part-time basis for an initial period of six months. The post commenced on 1st March, on which date David Richardson, Vice-Chancellor, University of East Anglia stepped down as Non-Executive Chair.
David Parfrey is currently Executive Director, Finance & Campus Operations, at the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC). He has over 30 years' experience of leading significant business transformation, gained while working for organisations such as British Gas and QinetiQ during their periods of major change. His extensive experience is diverse, ranging from procuring jet fighters to leading major IT transformation projects; he was also instrumental in the work behind securing a £5.6 billion contract for a previous employer.
David joined the research councils in 2006, initially leading finance in EPSRC, and for a short time leading finance in both EPSRC and AHRC before joining BBSRC late in 2008. David is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, the Royal Society of Biology and the Institute of Directors. David has considerable experience of working with Research and Innovation Parks that he will bring to his new role with the NRP LLP.
David will oversee a period in which the partner organisations of the NRP LLP are seeking to review the LLP’s achievements over the last 5 years and its strategy for the next 5 years, particularly in respect of the opportunities presented by the Government’s Industrial Strategy.
