Executive Chair of Norwich Research Partners LLP
David Parfrey will act as Independent Executive Chair for Norwich Research Partners LLP (NRP LLP) to oversee a period in which the partner organisations of the NRP LLP are seeking to review the LLP’s achievements over the last 5 years and its strategy for the next 5 years, particularly in respect of the opportunities presented by the Government’s Industrial Strategy. David has considerable experience of working with Research and Innovation Parks that he will bring to his new role with the NRP LLP.
He is also Executive Director, Finance & Campus Operations for the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), Chair of Leaf Expression Systems (a Norwich based spin-out from the John Innes Centre) and a Director of the Babraham Research Campus management company BBT Ltd, the Aberystwyth Innovation Campus management company AIEC and the facilities company underpinning the new Norwich based Quadram Institute.
Building on a wide experience of business sectors, David has led some of the largest investments in Science and Innovation in recent years, for example the ground breaking new high containment animal health laboratories at Pirbright, consistent with his aspiration to help provide the best possible capability to enable the greatest bioscience research to be undertaken here in the UK. He firmly believes that research should change lives and so has held leading roles in the creation of a number of important UK Research & Innovation campuses whose purpose is to create the ecosystems around world-leading research institutes that encourage the connection between researchers and the opportunity to realise social and economic good.
David firmly believes that people are at the root of all great things and has a passion for encouraging development, for ensuring we foster the next generation of great people and provide the opportunity to create the fulfilment and excitement that will in turn motivate to deliver great achievement.
