David is Chief Executive at Anglia Innovation Partnership LLP (AIP), who are the force behind the Norwich Research Park. He is a highly proficient leader of transformational change and progression in the science, research and innovation sectors. He has considerable experience working with research and innovation parks, having led some of the largest investments in science and innovation in recent years and has an enviable track record for delivering successful outcomes.
David has an unwavering aspiration for each generation to play its full part in the provision of a better future for those who come after. He firmly believes that people are at the root of all great things, and has a passion for encouraging development, ensuring we foster the next generation of great people, and in that to provide the fulfilment and excitement that will in turn motivate the delivery of great achievement.
In science he has striven to support the creation of an environment for the UK to be a global centre for ground-breaking bioscience research, and is passionate that research should change lives.
He has been pivotal in creating a number of significant UK research and innovation campuses that have been successful in building ecosystems around world-leading research institutes to provide a clear path for researchers to deliver tangible benefits for social and economic good.
Previous to joining AIP, he was Executive Director (Finance & Campus Operations) for the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), a Director of the Babraham Research Campus in Cambridge and a Director of the Aberystwyth Innovation Campus. He has held a number of other Board Chair positions and Directorships including Chairing the Addenbrookes Hospital Audit & Risk Committee. He has also held senior roles leading major transformational change in QinetiQ plc & Centrica plc (and it’s predecessor British Gas plc).
David is also a Director/Trustee of the UK’s leading independent advocate for science and engineering, The Campaign for Science and Engineering (CaSE), where he has oversight of Finance and Risk.
David was awarded a Direct Fellowship to the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and he also holds Fellowships of the Royal Institute of Biology and the Institute of Directors.
